Before. At a member organisation, each member’s youth section region and women’s section region were stored separately from their main region. Keeping them in line was manual work: staff went through spreadsheets to decide who needed moving, then changed records one by one.
Now. We set up an overnight update in the membership system, iMIS. A youth section member’s region follows their main region. If they have no main region (mostly members under 18), the update uses the youth region their address sits in. A women’s section member’s region follows their main region, using rules the client set.
Still a person’s call. Some members’ existing region didn’t match their address. Some had no main local group, or sat in a local group with only one member. Client staff review those lists and mark who should move, because they know things the data doesn’t show.
In your office. If chapter or sub-group membership is set separately from the main record, and staff run spreadsheets to bring the two back into line, it’s the same job.
