Copying a past event instead of starting from a blank form

Anyone setting up an event in the member organisation’s event editor started from a blank form, even for an event they had run before. A half-finished event could not be saved, so set-up had to happen in one sitting. The team asked for a way to save drafts and copy past events.

We added both, and Julian built them. Duplicate, on any past or upcoming event, copies the set-up into a new event with the dates cleared and shows a preview first. Volunteer shifts keep their times and follow the new start date. Save Draft sits next to Create Event, and drafts show in a Drafts tab for anyone who manages that local group’s events. Unused drafts are removed after 90 days.

A person still sets the dates and image, and decides whether to add a raffle or auction, since those aren’t copied. They change each time, and extras that take money should be chosen on purpose.

In your own office, ask whoever sets up events whether they retype last year’s details or keep half-built events in a separate document.
