Across Australia, the Liberal Party has more than 80,000 members in more than 2,000 branches, which are governed by their respective State Liberal Party “Divisions”. The NSW division of the Liberal Party (LPNSW) is sustained by supporters through paid memberships.

The Goal

To overhaul LPNSW’s membership renewal process by taking it online while accurately maintaining back end mechanisms.

The Challenges

LPNSW members rarely used the member portal and re-supplying login details was seen as a barrier to successfully receiving membership renewals. LPNSW had never managed their membership processes through the standard iMIS process, so a new implementation for membership billing was required. LPNSW had a number of complex membership offerings to consider such as joint memberships, upgrade offers and targeted voluntary contributions.

The Solution

3DN re-implemented the iMIS Dues Billing system to enable bulk membership processing along with accurate billing categories. 3DN also implemented the Novo membership renewal module with 1-click. Further development followed to support on-the-fly membership upgrades, joint membership processing and voluntary contributions.

The Outcome

LPNSW has a fully-integrated online membership renewal process with an end-to-end billing process that facilitates automated billing and is 100% online. The 1-click membership renewal enables members to renew their membership without any need to login. Staff use of member portal pages meant staff could impersonate a member to process payments on their behalf, with no need for login to IMIS
